Therese Hume, Strategic Partner Director

What attracted you to Oncam?
At the time, I was looking for a career change and came across an opportunity to join Oncam when they had just started and I haven’t looked back since – this was 11 years ago. When I first saw Oncam’s 360 technology (and we are talking analogue 360) I was completely blown away. It felt very exciting to be joining such an incredibly innovative company and what a journey it has been since.

What do you like about working here?
There are many things but to name the top two, it would be the people and the technology. We have an amazing culture across the globe and, in my opinion, Oncam really is one of the best companies to work for. The drive, passion and team spirit is like nothing I have ever encountered before. We truly are ONE TEAM.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
Every day is very different from the next to be honest, and that’s a good thing in my opinion – keeps me on my toes and each day is a continuous learning curve. I have worked across multiple departments within the company, and I guess the common thread and what I really enjoy is the people aspect and building trusted relationships within and outside of the company, which is the main day-to-day aspect of the role I have now. At the end of 2019, I moved my whole family from leafy Hertfordshire in the UK, to an even leafier New Jersey in the US, and that was a big change for me – from commuting across London to working full-time from home. But because we are such a tightknit team, it doesn’t really matter where in the world you are, the supportive and collaborative aspect will always be there no matter what.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m originally from Sweden, but have lived in the UK and US for the past 17 years. Back in the day, I was a pretty decent football (or soccer as it’s called in the US!) player and it is definitely still a passion for me – anyone who knows me can tell you I’m pretty competitive as well!

Marwan Khan, Junior Project Manager

What attracted you to Oncam?
The desire to work for a specialist, innovative, and market leading organisation, which continually positively challenges itself and its employees to grow and develop the knowledge and skill set within the business. Joining as a Graduate Project Manager I was immediately excited by the opportunities to work on important projects with hugely talented and dedicated colleagues, guided by an inspirational leadership team.

What do you like about working here?
The projects I am involved in, which bring the amazing technology we’re developing to market, are in themselves a great motivator. What stands out for me personally are the engrained traits within the organisation from the top down which I hugely treasure; openness, integrity, and a desire to solve problems and improve. Every colleague and team member is valued for their contribution and ideas they bring to the table.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
Working in a fast paced environment everyday is different! My day can range from; agile planning and scheduling, liaising with external suppliers, driving to close issues and mitigate risks, and all the way to planning exciting product launch activities!

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a big lover of analogue sound and own a growing collection of over 1000 vinyl records, covering an array of genres which I get to play in the evenings on my trusty pair of Technics 1210s! My favourite genre is Jazz due to its array of instrumentation and tempo, with every corner of the world contributing different influences and styles.

Dilen Thakrar, Product Manager

What attracted you to Oncam?
Lots of things really. It was clear to me that Oncam was a customer driven business, focused on delivering cutting edge technology and innovative solutions, not afraid to do things differently in a very traditional market, this really excited me. The future vision of the company was also very inspiring and something I really wanted to be involved in.

What do you like about working here?
This is a challenging, fast paced environment and it’s the Oncam team that has helped me to embrace it, supporting me to grow and develop my skills and knowledge in a very short space of time. Culture is very important in any organization, at Oncam we have a very talented, passionate and enthusiastic team working to support each other every day whilst always striving to improve and do things better and smarter. I love the fact that I continue to learn every day.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
I’m very fortunate in that I don’t have a typical day, my role is extremely varied with daily interaction across departments, customers and suppliers working on the many facets of product management. The autonomy I am given in my role lets me take full ownership of my products and motivates me to deliver the best I can on a daily basis.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a big fan of trying (at least once) extreme outdoor activities, from skydiving in London, to paragliding in Spain and bungee jumping in Cyprus.

As someone who enjoys giving back to society, I went to the extreme of Skydiving for charity, despite my fear of heights.

Amadeusz Misiak, Junior Software Engineer

What attracted you to Oncam?
The innovative approach to camera technology and quality of the product they deliver, as well their progressive and open stances within the company and towards their clients.

What do you like about working here?
How well the projects complement my set of skills. I also love that its a very diverse, relaxed and team working environment which makes everyone even more so enjoyable to work with.

What’s a typical day like in your role?
Relaxed coffee first thing in the morning! Chat and briefing with teammates to sync up on the tasks or challenges ahead. Usually followed by planning and design of program modules that I work on, sometimes the camera’s website, sometimes the cameras firmware or other tools for the camera. Most of my responsibilities are finding creative solutions to tackle programming obstacles. And as usual throughout the day everyone is free to be approached / called so we all sporadically support each other.

I used to sing in a choir!

I like working in Oncam, because there is always work to be done and problems to be solved (I have always liked a good challenge). My colleagues are also easy going people which makes for a stress free work environment; the best kind of environment that increases productivity.

What’s a typical like like in your role?
My day always begins with a meeting with my colleagues to plan for the day ahead and then a few other meetings with third party vendors we work with. I then move on to working on my sprint which normally includes tasks in the software development circle of our new product.

Can you share something that most people don’t know about you?
I love classical music and old movies – 50s and older.
